Berger Farms bow hunting is located on 980 acres of private land in Pope County. Illinois. It is debatably one of the best locations in North America for trophy Whitetail Bucks. Berger Farms are surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest, and to the east the Ohio River where Berger Farms has 1.3 miles of shoreline. This area of Pope County has one whitetail deer for every 10 acres. Many whitetail bucks weigh over 200 pounds, grossing well over 130 points for Pope and Young registry. The archery only hunting area joins the Ohio River, with exceptional hardwoods, farmed fields (corn, soy beans and milo) with wild honeysuckle, persimmons and an acorn crop unparalleled in North America. Berger Farms has been open to the bow hunting public since 1997. Only bow hunters (6 hunters per week Saturday - Saturday noon) will be privileged to hunt Berger Farms over the 3 1/2 month season (Oct. 1 -Jan. 15).

All this is offered for only $800 per person including lodging. During April through September lodging is provided for fishing trips for only $100 per night (sleeps six).

A lodge is provided which sleeps 6, with AC and Heat, a refrigerator, 8' deck, showers and bathroom. RV hookups are present at the lodge site for the same price per weekend or week. Meals are not available at this time, but four restaurants are within four miles including the famous Mansion of Golconda and Sweetwaters. Barbecues and smokers are at the lodge site.

Berger Farms is a quality whitetail deer management destination, where we allow the young bucks to reach maturity. We encourage hunters to harvest of one doe for each buck. We encourage families, groups or corporations to reserve a bow hunt week to themselves, and can cater meals for 6 or more at modest rates with advance reservations of one month. We want your sons and daughters to harvest their first deer with us, and for you to take a Book Buck or your personal best at Berger Farms.

Berger Farms is within 30 minutes of River Boat gambling in Metropolis, with many other fine eateries and entertainment in addition to Golconda. The entire town of Golconda in Pope County is on the Historical Registry, with numerous Natural Scenic parks, including the Garden of the Gods, Dixon Springs and the new Golconda Marina.
